What happened

The planned hub will offer business advice, industrial site visits, demonstration facilities and proof-of-concept activities for sectors including maritime infrastructure, energy, food production, aerospace manufacturing and health care. Fifteen companies and several universities are participating, and the university expects the service to be fully operational by January 2027.

Why it matters

The award could connect university robotics expertise with real industrial trials and adoption projects. It is funding for planned infrastructure and services, not evidence that the hub is already operational or that any robot system has improved productivity, safety or care outcomes.
