What happened

Section 232 duties took effect September 3, 2026, on the unmanned aircraft systems, docking stations, and components listed in the proclamation's first two annexes. A separate 25 percent duty on listed Annex III components is scheduled for February 9, 2027.

What the proclamation covers

The proclamation sets a 100 percent duty on specified larger UAS, thermal-imaging UAS, docking stations, and critical components, and a 25 percent duty on listed UAS weighing 25 kilograms or less. It also authorizes an onshoring incentive program and possible later additions to the covered-component list.

This is an executive trade action, not a proposed rule or a bill. Partner-country caps, product classifications, delayed treatment for certain approved systems, and onshoring exemptions can change the rate that applies to a particular import.
