What happened

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee reported an amended version of S. 4259, and the measure was placed on the Senate legislative calendar as Calendar No. 507.

What the bill proposes

The bill would establish a U.S.-Taiwan Blue UAS working group, a cooperative framework with allies, and an expedited certification process intended to expand secure, PRC-independent drone supply chains and integrate qualifying Taiwanese systems and components into U.S. programs.

Committee reporting and calendar placement advance the proposal but do not enact it. The working group, certification process and cooperative framework would be required only if Congress passes the bill and the President signs it.
