University teams brought autonomous overtaking to a road course at the Indy Autonomous Challenge’s Laguna Seca event. Unimore Racing won the final against Purdue AI Racing, with nine teams using a common AV-24 vehicle platform and competing through their driving software.

Unlike the previous Monterey time-trial format, cars raced in paired heats and decided for themselves where to pass. Teams qualified through simulation before taking to the track. The event tested perception, planning and vehicle control under competitive conditions, while human crews monitored telemetry and retained emergency-stop capability.
